Busy

Kids and I had a big day out, off to get a check up for me, then off to centrelink to fill out forms and hand in paperwork, then off to the mail to check for more bills or letters, returned found book to library (Phew on that one), Went to Macca’s for lunch as a treat for the kids, then after lunch we went to Penrith to get shorts for daddy and to look around. Ended up getting new pj’s for the twins, singlets for the twins, three pairs of shorts for hubby (at a cheap price, they were marked down. Thank you Lowes), Some more shoes for the kids as they are growing and with winter they need sturdy shoes for being in the bush and winter. I even got a surprise for my cousin’s four month old twins thanks to Target.

After all that shopping and telling kids to stop touching things and to get out of the clothes racks, we went and looked the animals at the pet shop. After looking and some cute animals we found the car and drove home.  I am tired and glad that the kids were not mucking up too much. They did not go to bed straight away and were still up at 9pm chatting away. The time is 10:56pm and they are passed out. Lillian took her pillows so that she could sleep at the bottom of Julia’s bed. Do you think this means they will sleep in? I can only hope…. maybe I might get my wish?

Both kids are in their new pj’s and they are rather big considering the others they have, maybe I should have purchased the smaller size. I like to have a larger size in bed as it is nice to be not too confined, and I am sure they will grow into it. Maybe I can fix it up so they can let it out once they are bigger.

One win today was the fact that they messed up their room playing and called daddy and I in to see their room. I was worried as normally this means it is terrible and hours later we are still tidying it up, but it was not this time. Hold on to your seats. They tidied it all up and made their beds and put all teddies neatly on their beds for bed time. What good little girls. Maybe me making them tidy up after them is starting to kick in. I really hope so.

How has your day been? I am off to get into my pj’s and to go and brush my teeth before bed. I am looking forward to crashing my head on the pillow and passing out to nice dreams.

Why not continue the discussion on our Twitter or Facebook pages.

PS. Skin check was clear, nothing to worry about, all normal. So great news considering I left it six years for this check up.

Pre-School Over for 2012

Last day of School for 2012
Last day of School for 2012

This past Wednesday was the girls last day at pre-school for 2012. Yes my babies have done a full year at school, I am so proud and amazed it has gone so fast. We are now on holidays and awaiting the arrival of Santa and fun times with relatives and spending quality time with daddy at home. Daddy is working his last day before holidays today and I am sure is keen to come home, have a beer, put his feet up and finally relax for a bit.

My girls have been taken with bugs and insects ever since the bug lady, “Jackie” came to visit the school. They took a bug to show and tell for the last day of school and to go and live in Bug Town. Yes you heard that right, Bug Town. It is a place at the school that bugs live in and all kids are collecting and getting involved in. One of the girls friends had huge spider in a glass jar and it was yucky, I hate and really don’t like spiders. Not a fan at all. Pleased the girls are not skirmish with bugs and insects, however don’t want them getting to friendly with things that are dangerous. The bug lady has pointed out what is dangerous so that is good to know also, just hope they are not overly keen and forget about the danger.

My girls have grown up so much, they are trying to read, writing their names, can count to 20 and more now, and recognizing letters and numbers. Julia has added up numbers, the other week she said, we went to her cousins place for 2 sleeps. The following week we went for another 2 sleeps, she then said mummy that makes 4 sleeps. What a clever girl.

Julia also told a bossy girl at a park after the last day at school that she is going to turn 6 after she is 5. Very smart indeed. This bossy girl was saying she was older and bigger as she was 6 and the girls were babies. My girls hate when they are called babies and want to be seen as little girls not babies, other kids assume they are younger as they are small and petite. I think these bigger kids better watch themselves as my girls are not babies and will surprise you.

It will be interesting to see what 2013 has in store for the girls at pre-school. They will be big kids in their school next year as the older girls and boys are off to big school (Kindy). I also hope that they don’t miss their older friends too much. We have the contact numbers for these families so hopefully we can make playdates after school and on weekends.

It is nice not having to race off to get kids to and from school and I am looking forward to seeing the kids faces when they open their presents on Christmas Day. Do you find it relaxing when kids are on holiday? I do find it harder sometimes as you have to find more things to do, keeping kids occupied sometimes is harder than it seems. Currently the girls are busy playing by themselves. I might go and check to see if there is mess or things I need to know about, they are being very quiet. Send in your comments.

Testing Tumbling

Today we are off to a free tumbling clinic for the kids.  I am keen to see if the girls like it, and when we have more money maybe we can have them go. Not energised to get out of the house as it looks cold and is very windy. Current temperature is:

  • Current temp: 5.4°C
  • Feels like: 0.4°C
  • Humidity: 93%
  • Rainfall since 9am: 13.8mm
  • Wind: W 32km/h
  • Wind gusts: 50km/h

So as you can see being inside is much more sensible, however it is good for the kids to run around and be active. After the tumbling we are off to see Opa and Nana, who are now local for a couple of months. The girls were so happy to see Nana they asked her to fix four toys on Monday, it was lucky she was able to do that. Thanks Nana (Mum)

What are you all doing today? Have you participated in any school holiday fun?

Here are some links that might help with activities during school holidays (Some links might be more for Sydney, however you can apply the same to your city):

Hope you are having fun and send in your ideas for keeping active these school holidays. Send in your comments.

Update: The girls were not keen on tumbling to my utter dissapointment. Both girls do the same things that tumbling offered, however when presented with it, they just stared and looked pained at the instructors. Maybe when they are older. The twins have an excellent sense of balance and Lillian needs more exercise for her foot, so it would have been a good idea. Glad it was a free lesson today and we did not pay for it. If they had liked it we might have seen what we could have organised. Might address it again next year. What a pity, I think I was more excited about it than the kids were.
