This year the blog is turning ten.

What a major milestone it is to be blogging for 10 years!

It really doesn’t feel like it has been ten years.  Maybe it is all the things that kept me busy in the nearly ten years since having my first children (I did think that I would always say first child but in my case its first children).

The blog was started just after the twins were born and the girls are soon to be ten in September. The twins are super excited to be double digits soon.

To celebrate this amazing milestone I am giving away prizes to a valued and cherished reader each month.

Happy 8 Years of Blogging

This year is the eighth year of my blog. Yes I have been blogging for eight years. It sometimes does not feel like it has been that long at all.

To celebrate I have a really amazing giveaway. This giveaway will give you a present as well as something for your little baby or if you don’t have a baby it could be a lovely gift for someone.

The next few months is going to be exciting in regards to giveaways. I have something for the Christmas and New Year holidays, some surprises in the lead up to Christmas and of course this giveaway that will help celebrate the blog’s eighth birthday. Well for me there are many reasons why I blog.

  • Something for me – I started the blog to do something while the twins were babies. Before I had my twin girls I looked after, managed and organised websites so it was a natural thing to start my own site.
  • Keep my professional skills sharp – At first I just kept it quiet and did it for me. It was something that I started to do. It was good to do some work that was not looking after babies and allowed me to use my mind and skills that I had developed and practiced at work.
  • Control over my work – I then decided to make the blog public and moved it over to a domain name that removed WordPress from the URL and I control the page and the back-end.  It is a site that allows me to have overall control and that makes me feel amazing. Making decisions of what direction the blog goes in and what it looks like and what gets posted is fabulous. It is my site and I have control over it.
  • Gives me a voice – As you can already see I like the fact that I have my own space to have a voice. I love the fact that it is a medium that can be done from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to a computer or a phone.

There are so many possibilities that you can do via a blog. You can make it a business or just keep it a hobby it is up to you.

My aim is to take the blog to the next level and to do a new look and feel soon (so stay tuned).

Today is day one of Problogger. I am keen to learn what others are doing with their blogs, learn about strategy, planning and content. It is a great event to get inspired, focus on your talents and find ideas that might help you out. You never know what idea will be the one that is the changer that can make the most difference.

Don’t Quit! Keep Going!

Do you sometimes feel like packing it in. No point. No one is listening, reading or paying any attention. I do. I have had many moments where I have just wanted to step back and to stop for a bit. However I have invested so much into my work and what I am building. My blog, my ideas and future products that I would love to develop.

Yes always creating and dreaming. Although like everyone self doubt and life sometimes make things difficult to keep on going. Does this happen to you?

Keep going even if you want to quit. You will get there!

This post is for all of you that are thinking of calling it quits.

Don’t!

Keep on going.

Things will happen. It might not be the millions of dollars you would like to earn, or the dream job that you would love to get. However what you are doing will lead you to the next great thing. If you are working at your craft or blog at home it is a skill that you can use to leverage to the next step.

It is also your outlet.

Without an outlet to express yourself and just be you, it is hard to be happy. Everyone needs something that they feel happy doing. A hobby, a passion an outlet to just be you!

If you are like me a SAHM (Stay at home mum) having an outlet and something for me is needed. I cannot give it up.

It is mine and you never know where your passion might take you.  Keep going! You are great and don’t listen to others comments. Just keep plodding along.

Just give things a go. If you try something you might be good at it and it will all work out. You never know until you try!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

My Christmas wishes to you. Thanks for following the blog and spending time online with me this year. 2015 is going to be bigger and better so stay tuned for some more fun.

2014 Goals – Reaching for the Stars

New year, new plans? Well that is normally the way it works. I do have things that I have been wanting to do and I think 2014 is the year for it. Here is a list of some things, goals and plans that I want to get done:

  • Finally decide on a new design for the blog and get it redesigned. I have had several ones that I do like but then saw other people using them. I want to make the blog feel unique and different. So back to researching and finding the one. Once it is organised a new look and new feel for 2014 will be a good thing to embrace the new year.
  • Do more sewing, skirts, tea towels and other things. I have another site that I want to devote to this but of course need to organise more time or find it to do more.
  • Write my book. Every talk that I have been to in the past year said to write a book. I never thought I would have much to say or that people would be interested in my stories or tales. I had a belief that if you don’t solve someones problem why bother writing a book. A person would not purchase it as what is in it for them. When on a talk online I had a brain wave. I then discovered I do have something that I can share and it is not about solving everyone’s issues it is about explaining what works for you and creating a community. You are not alone I am going through the same things as you. Making you feel content in you. Well that is the plan!
  • Tone up and get fitter. Yes many people have that plan and of course 2014 will be better to do this. With kids at school 5 days a week it will give me more time to do more and of course exercise
  • Make the blog bigger and better. Work with more brands, more giveaways and other magical things I hope for 2014.
  • Build my other blog that I wish to launch, stay tuned.
  • Have the house more organised to allow more time on other things
  • Work on saving for the house plans & the build, then get a DA in 2014 or at least work towards it. Bring on the new house!
  • Go to the Digital Parents Conference in March 2014. This year it is on a cruise ship. I’m so excited to have the time to be by myself and of course network with other like minded bloggers. This time I will make sure to pack my business cards and they will get handed out! Cannot wait to be on that cruise ship!
  • Looking forward to meeting my sisters baby. Yes she is pregnant with her first child! How exciting. Cannot wait to see what she is going to look like and what they will call her. I know it is a girl so half the surprise done already. Also love buying and getting things for a baby so cannot wait to go shopping for that.
