Dangers of Early Morning TV

Watching early morning infomercials is dangerous.  Due to being up at odd hours with the baby I ended up having the television stuck on a channel with non stop infomercials.

Since he was screaming his head off I immediately put bottle in mouth and then realised that the telly was stuck on a channel I did not want.

I could not fix it.

I ended up watching two long commercials.

I thought how silly it was that I was watching this type of television while feeding the baby.

What has the world come to? A housewife, feeding the baby and now watching infomercials. Yes I have succumbed.

I thought I was winning and doubted the stories and information. I did tried to not be swayed by the propaganda.

However…… I was turned and suddenly started to think that these two products were okay and maybe we could seriously use them in our house. Oh NO! What was happening? Geez early morning telly is dangerous. I’m glad that I was too sleepy and of course I was out of reach of a credit card.

My new mop..... I wonder if it will work like the one I saw on the infomercial?
My new mop….. I wonder if it will work like the one I saw on the infomercial?

The sales job had even worked  in the early morning hours all between cuddles, burps and spitting up from a baby and not me…. Yes I know you might wonder after this sudden announcement that I have been swayed after just watching two commercials in the early morning hours.

You might wonder what products that I thought were so amazing. Below are the two products that wowed me:

  • One was this brilliant mop that has a swivel head and the head of the mop can detach to be cleaned in the washing machine. Just brilliant I thought. No need to buy replacements you need to just wash it. Also some areas are hard to reach with the mop that we currently have and if the head or parts move around then it would work so much better. The mop also had a spinner thingy bob in the bucket that allows you to spin out the yucky water and magically be left with clean water for your next go at mopping the floor.
  • The other product was the painter rollers. The roller actually has the paint in it so every time you roll the paint on the wall or whatever you are painting you don’t need to keep on topping it up. It works well and the paint lasts for a while, well the infomercial told me it did. I know you have to add paint to the body of the paint roller but it looked like a brilliant idea.

Watching this type of telly is very bad when you are sleep deprived and also cannot change the channel. I could not stop thinking about the mop and thought it would be a good thing to have. While I was shopping for something completely different at BigW I saw the same type of mop for sale. I’m sure it was called something different on the infomercial and was more expensive but could be wrong. It was early morning and I have found that I have not remembered much other than the baby is fed and going back to bed (I do love my sleep).

Since I saw this great product for sale I had to give it a go. I have meant to use it but due to the baby being up and down all week, I have not had a chance. I plan to do it this week. Take the new mop out of the box and see if it is indeed the bees knees of mops.

Have you been sucked into infomercials and thought what they were selling looked fabulous? Please let me know I’m not the only one.

Problogger 2015 here I come!

I am very excited and happy. Yes a rare occurrence due to the fact that I have not done anything on my to do list (this to do list is mainly housework and organsing stuff for kids )

However I did manage to do something I have wanted to do since experiencing Problogger in 2013.

Today I managed to secure a ticket to Problogger. If you don’t know what Problogger is, It is the biggest and most amazing blogging conference in Australia.

Silly photo fun with mummy at the QT on the Gold Coast in 2013. We were there for Problogger.
Silly photo fun with mummy at the QT on the Gold Coast in 2013. We were there for Problogger.

Why I wanted to go back:

  • I loved it.
  • It was an eye opener and I had a ball!
  • Learnt so much
  • Networked and met such amazing people

So with the idea that 2015 is the year to achieve. The year to progress and get things done in a professional sense.

Yes screw the housework (although I secretly wish that while I work away, my clone would be cleaning and doing all the things I loathe to do)

I had enough in my PayPal account and that made ticket buying easy. Also I was sitting at the computer when ticket sales were announced and was able to get a ticket while some were still left, at the time of booking there was only about 230 tickets left. Last year they sold out in about 30mins to 15mins. Yes crazy isn’t it! Being online at the right time is crucial!

I phoned the hotel to book a room and that is now organised. Although still waiting on my confirmation email. I chased this up but it is due to the fact that bloggers have kept the hotel staff very busy. I wanted to make sure that I had a room at the venue as this would have made things harder. I have been assured my email should turn up tomorrow. I hope so.

In our hire car at Gold Coast Airport in 2013. This time it will be just me driving my hire car.

Two things are left to sort out

  • Flights to the Gold Coast
  • Car hire

I will of course use my wonderful car hire deal from Redspot Sixt to get me from the airport to The RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.

If you are a brand, company and the like, and you have anything that might suit the blog please get in touch.

I need to help pay for my trip and to help hubby not feel upset about the outlay so far. Plus The Problogger event is a perfect time to get more eyes on your products and business. We can work something out if you would like to sponsor me.

Are you going to Problogger in August? If you are I will see you there! I cannot wait. Not only will I be learning a great deal, I will be kid free for a while.

Let me know if you are going and we can meet up.

Did you know you get curls with hair dye?

At the shops this afternoon the kids asked me if the boxes were hair colour. I said yes. Lillian liked the red colour. I told her I like the colour red also. She then told me that she wanted to have that colour hair as well. I told her and Julia that I loved their hair colour, it is a lovely shade of blonde and I wish mine was like this, although not to be.

Lilly then told pointed at a box that has blonde hair dye and said “Mummy you could use this and your hair would be like ours.” I did explain that was very nice but I am fine with not having blonde hair and told the girls I was not sure if it would suit me. They both told me that I would look lovely blonde. This of course was very nice to hear from your two adorable little girls who got into a lot of trouble today.

I think it was then Lillian again who then said, “Look mummy this one comes with curls!” How cute, she thought that the dye also gave you curls. Well after thinking about it, the box does appear like it does. There is a woman with lovely curly hair and making out that is what yours will look like, if you use this product. I told her that is exactly right as she was very insistent. I did try and correct her, but she told me it was so. It said on the box! Both girls then showed me the picture and said, “See mummy”, well it must be right then.

It was so cute and adorable, a couple of ladies could not help but have a giggle. My little girls are very clever and smart. I never thought about the packaging that way before. What has your child done or said that has made you look at things differently?
