Lorraine You Have Forsaken Me

I have been suffering for days with hay fever and it is doing my head in. Yes very funny it is a head cold type illness and I have said it is doing my head in… well you would be over it if you cannot leave the house without the massive amounts of tissues, hankies and other things that might help.

Normal smells that don’t annoy me are causing all sorts of dramas. Hubby put on his aftershave and it made me sneeze for hours afterwards. I have now told him to do it elsewhere as I find the smell over powers the bedroom and surrounds. This then means that I have constant sneezing and upset for hours.

I usually take a pill of Loratadine which I have called Lorraine and it fixes up the hay fever.

Loratadine or Lorraine as I like to call it. I have nicknamed this hay fever medicine to make it easier to remember.

Now you might be wondering why I have called the pill Lorraine? Well, I could never remember the official name and just called it part of what I remembered. So it has always been Lorraine to me.

I know it is not correct and a bit weird but I’m sure I’m not the only one that does this. Do you have odd or weird names for things that you use all the time? Do others think it is odd as well? What are the names you have given to everyday items?

Last year while pregnant with Alexander I was suffering again from hay fever. I called the medicine hotline to make sure that I could take Lorraine (or otherwise known as Loratadine) during pregnancy. When the lady on the phone what I called the medicine she could not stop laughing.

I told her I could never remember it and decided that Lorraine sounded better. She thought this was brilliant. I hope that my phone call brightened up her day, at the very least it was different. In the end I was able to take this medicine during pregnancy and it worked a treat. However it is not doing its normal magic and making my hay fever go away.

Normally 1 pill does the trick. No sneezing, no itchy eyes and no need to have a constant supply of tissues, hankies and the like.

However my go to pill has not been working at all. Lorraine has not been doing the amazing job she once has for me.  What is wrong with her, what is wrong with the pill that it has decided to stop working????

I did think that maybe I had a cold and also hay fever. Maybe that is why it was not working as well as before. I tried some cold and flu tablets but that did not help. OH how annoying!

One last ditch effort was to get the sinus and hay fever tablets from the chemist. They seem to help more. Some days are better than others but it seems to be an especially bad season for hay fever so far.

I just hope that it gets better and I don’t have a whole summer feeling like this. I hang for summer and the hot weather. I don’t want to be forever head in a tissue and having a bad time.

Have you been suffering from hay fever lately? Do your remedies work to make you feel better? If you take any medicine what are the ones that work for you? Oh and if you have a nick name for your pills like I have please share.

Creating My Own Sunshine

I have had about 3 or more weeks fighting a bad cold, to then get very bad hay fever. I am over the feeling unwell and sneezing and I do feel zapped of energy and motivation. However in my messy house currently I am hoping to do some things for me. Due to being unwell, I have felt rather down and depressed. Silly but not unreasonable given the circumstances.

I am hoping to create some of my own sunshine to allow me to shine and feel good and happy. A bit of me time for my projects will allow this. Now to go and clean the dining room table to get stuck into my project. Image found on Pinterest.

I am hoping to get some sewing done to cheer me up. I am planning on doing some skirts for the girls, a skirt for me and pajama pants for myself as well.  (yes something for myself). However this project for me and of course the kids has not happened due to trying to get some housework done. By the time I whiz about and do the odd jobs I never get time for my things. Do you find this happens? I especially need a pick me up now due to being a bit out of sorts.

Don’t worry I am on the mend and hope all is getting better, however I am still sniffling due to hay fever I think and hope the cold is well and truly gone!

It is not grey hair, it is sparkles in your hair.

The other day Julia was looking at my hair. She must have spied a grey hair. I don’t have many and only about two, but loved what Julia called them. She said that they were sparkles in my hair. I would rather have sparkles than grey hair and thought that this is a nicer way of describing grey hair. So all of you that have grey hair, you have sparkles in your hair.

This made me smile and of course is another lovely thought to add to the sunshine in my day. It has also reminded me it is time to dye my hair again due to more sparkles appearing. Yes I would like to avoid sparkles for a bit longer if I can.

Stop worrying about your stresses and focus on your blessings.
Stop worrying about your stresses and focus on your blessings.

Lately I have been thinking about the troubles and stresses in my life and not looking at all that is good. I am very blessed and lucky for what I have. I need to stop worrying and just be. Do you do this as well? I know I DO!

What do you do to let more sunshine into your day? Do you meditate, relax, have a chat with mates, have some quiet time, sit in the garden, have flowers to look at, or do a bit of your favourite hobby? Maybe reading a good book is just what the doctor ordered?

Let us know what you do and maybe others will be inspired as well. Send in your comments.
