Power of Nursery Rhymes

Thatched roof in Hungary. Image by Zyance
Thatched roof in Hungary. Image by Zyance

Last night we were all watching one of the episodes of the BBC Mastercrafts series, they showcase how an average person learns the following skills:

  • Stonemasonry
  • Weaving
  • Stained Glass
  • Blacksmithing
  • Thatching
  • Green Wood Craft

The BBC Mastercrafts series is rather interesting and I must say that I thought it would be a boring documentary series but it very entertaining. It takes 3 average people that have never done anything remotely like thatching or blacksmithing and plunges them into the life and the learning of this field.  So if you get a chance check out this show.

We have seen Blacksmithing, Thatching and the Green Wood Craft episodes, but it was the one to do with thatching that caught Julia’s attention. She was amazed that they were building a house out of straw. I did explain that it was only the roof that was straw and thatched roofs are sturdy and fine as long as put on in the correct way.

Julia was most insistent that this was not good, and should not happen, “A house should be built out of bricks as it is safer!” according to Julia.

This got me thinking of the power of nursery rhymes. The story of the “Three little pigs” has left its mark and convinced Julia that straw was not the right choice for a house. It might be blown down by the big bad wolf she said. She has a point. If a child is presented with these types of stories, then sees a programme showing part of the house being built with straw, what is she to think?

As I said I did try to explain but I don’t think she understood. She was annoyed that they were being so silly with their building materials and explained that we will not use straw for our new house (we are hoping to build a bigger house soon so she is giving us ideas for the new place).

Have you had parts of nursery rhymes or other stories come back in conversation with your children? If so what was it about and what story was your child referring to? Also if you have a straw roof beware of the big bad wolf. Send in your stories.

Imagination helped by Recordings

When I was little I had a book and record for “Peter and the Wolf” (I think it was this version but I am not sure as it was a long time ago). I loved the idea of listening to the story and just had the most amazing time. I can remember it now, how magical it felt listening to the story and turning the pages of the book while the record played. Sometimes I just listened to the record and left the book as I liked to imagine what it was like in my head. I have probably given away my age by mentioning the record, oh well, let’s move on.

While watching “Charlie and Lola” the episode called, “I Want to Play Music Too” is about putting a story to music. It reminds me very much of listening to “Peter and the Wolf” when I was younger. I know it is different but it is strange how things remind you of other things no matter how remote it is.

Did you have a book or toy as a child that you still think of today? I would love to get the record and book for the girls but we don’t have a record player. Maybe there is a recording of Peter and the Wolf that is digital? The problem is that I would know it when I heard it but I don’t want to purchase it if it is the wrong one. It would be good to hear a sample of the recording before purchasing.

I don’t know if it is me but I loved the way it made me imagine the story having the record of the story. The music, the sound effects just added to my idea of what it would be like. Closing my eyes and listening was just wonderful. Do kids still think this is magical or was it a different time? Is it now considered boring? Would my kids think it was great also or just not that exciting if they had it also?

We have something similar with books called Rosie’s Walk and also the Winky Wonky Donkey. Both books came with a cd and we read the book and listened to the story as well. The girls liked it but I am not sure it was like my experience as a kid. Let me know if you have had the same experience as a child, have your kids enjoyed listening to stories? One Week Until Four

One week to go until my little girls will be four years old. Hard to believe my little babies will be four, but it will happen. They are growing up and becoming such little adults already. I think they are nearly four going on twenty. My little girls are such little negotiators and really make me think they are more adult than toddler at times, however saying this they are very much still little girls who are still learning and figuring out the world.

I am busy tidying the house for guests next week, Grandma and Granddad are coming to visit and the girls are very excited that they are coming to sleepover. For the girls birthday party it is a teddy bear’s picnic theme, so brainstorming ideas for games, food, cake, and other things that might be good for the party.I have some great ideas, but don’t want it to be complicated and would rather have simple things look good.

It is very hard to believe that it has been four years since I have had the twins, it really only feels like yesterday I took them home from the hospital. How time flys. Have you been amazed at how grown up your toddler or child has become? I have, and even some times I have been told I am not needed. It is nice not to be needed but a bit of a sad sometimes, but it is a good sign that they are becoming independent and able to do more on their own. It means that this mother thing is working and the proof is kids doing things so well. Send in your comments.

Spring Fun at the Park

Today was such a lovely day, warm, and no cloud in the blue sky. So after school I took the kids to the park. They rode their bikes, played with friends,  rolled down the hill and just ran around like kids do. It is so nice that spring is here, such great weather to be out and about. Check out the lovely pictures that I took of our fun day. Have you found the nice weather helpful for activiites, I do. Send in your comments.

Happy Father’s Day

Today has been rather trying as you will see from my post, Planet Pooh“.  Although we have had some issues today, we have had a great day! Happy Father’s Day everyone from all of us here at Mummy to Twins! PS. While on Pinterest I found some wonderful cupcake toppers for Father’s Day and they are free, all courtesy of paperglitter.com. I am sure they would not mind me sharing as they were easily available on the Internet.  See what they looked like below, they worked a treat, and I only used printer paper. Think how they would have looked if I had used nice paper.

Planet Pooh

Today the girls have had heaps of energy. We decided to have lunch outside as the day was so nice, not a cloud in the sky and lovely blue skies. Although not very warm it was warmer than it has been, the second day of spring is making me think that summer is going to be warm. Yes finally a warm summer to look forward to.

Now back to the girls. They were running riot, racing around from one end of the house to the other. Running races, kids were pretending to be rats – (they are rats in the Chinese Horoscope and we have told them this so now they play rats) while pretending to be rats daddy and mummy were referred to as mumma and dada rat.

Lillian then decided that she was a rocket and was flying around the garden; she then had to fly to the bathroom for a toilet stop. Once she flew back to the backyard she flew just past the clothes line and then announced she had run out of petrol. Thank goodness the chair next to her was a petrol station so she could fuel up and be on her way to “Planet Pooh!”

Daddy and I had no idea that Planet Pooh was in our backyard and that the girls had their own personal rockets to fly there at a moment’s notice.  Then all of a sudden, no more rockets and no more Planet Pooh, it was Mr Whippy. Lillian decided she was Mr Whippy and she got out the truck that their cousin gave them and zipped that around the yard as if she was off on deliveries.

Mr Whippy or Lillian did get upset at various times as her ice-creams were lost when her helpful assistant tried to clean the truck and melted the ice-creams. Then the girls swapped and Julia was Mr Whippy then Lillian was a customer.

The outside play today ended by the girls making mud and mud pies. As you might have imagined this ended with very messy kids and an annoyed daddy as he had to have them in the shower and clean the bathroom due to the mud. I suppose the kids were just trying to make him feel loved on Father’s Day.

We did have an incident at the supermarket when one of the girls lost it and had a temper tantrum, and this one child has been a sensitive little person all day. Maybe she is just very tired? I am hoping that they will just go to sleep without a hassle and not play the game of can I get a book, a drink, need to go to the bathroom every second and want to come out to tell you something that they have already told you a million times.

As I write this there has been another meltdown about a block. The same little girl who I believe is tried from yesterday is creating issues. We went to my nana’s (the girls GG) for lunch to celebrate her birthday. It was a long day and as there have been many meltdowns and problems I really think it is the fact she needs to have more sleep. Let’s hope this happens, currently she is in her room for time out as she was very naughty.

Have your kids had heaps of energy today? If so what have you done to exhaust them?  Has it worked? Send in your comments.

Melbourne Bound

Got up at 6am, had breakfast, watched part of my show, had a shower, actually put on makeup, packed the final things for my bag. As soon as I was about to sit down to have a coffee (and actually watch the rest of my show – now we are watching Sesame Street) Lillian woke up, then Julia. Oh well at least I have all the other things organised. How good does it feel to be ready and not running around!

Now the reason for my early rise and bag packing is I am off to Melbourne for the night, I know very glam and fun! I cannot wait. We were lucky to get part of the flight on frequent flyer points and the rest was a cheap ticket, thank god for airlines lowering costs. It has worked well for us.

My day off and night is going to be wonderful. I just love going to the airport and it will be even better as I will be able to go off and do my own thing, the many things I am looking forward to today are: reading my notes for university (I know boring but an essential thing to do as quiz is next Monday), looking at shops without kids touching everything, have a drink or some food without having to rush or get something other little people might like but never eat.

Dinner tonight is the one event that I am really looking forward to but also being on a plane is a highlight for me, sounds silly but I find it exciting. Do you love flying? Have you managed to get away for even a day or a weekend?

One thing that is a bit sad is that it is only for a short time, but even though a short trip it is a nice, much needed break. Thank god for my lovely mother who is going to mind the twins while I am away, without her I would not be able to do this, just good timing all round.

Are you planning a short trip without the kids? How excited are you about it? I am super excited, I know it is funny but I find I cannot wipe the grin off my face. It might not be a grin on my face when I say goodbye to the kids at the station but will try and be strong, it is only a night away. I will see them tomorrow. Send in your comments.

Hanging Out With Daddy

Daddy is in Melbourne for work and will be there for the rest of the week. Previously when daddy has been away he has connected with me and the kids, more so for the kids via online. Tonight we used a Google + Hangout and it works a treat.

You just click the button to organise a hangout, which is just like a private room but in this private room you can have a video conference with just one or more people. It is dependent on how many attendee’s you invite.

So as you can imagine the girls were excited to speak to daddy and also see him, but the main draw card of the evening was funny faces and silly movements. Not much was said and the girls were in such a giggle fit that it was hard to hear anything. I thought you might take some joy out of the picture that daddy was able to save from our online chat.

Hoping that tomorrow’s online talk with daddy and the kids is less crazy. Does your husband/wife work interstate or overseas? If so have you Skyped or used Google to catch up? It is a wonderful tool the Internet to stay connected. Although Julia was rather upset at first to see daddy as she wanted him home. Both my girls kept thinking that daddy was coming home tonight. I told them again that he is in Melbourne, and this was met with “When is he coming home?” I then explained that he is interstate for work and he will be home soon.

Do you have any funny stories or things you do to make it easier on the kids when one parent is away? Send in your stories. Why not continue this discussion on our twitter or facebook pages.

Junk Room No More!

Do you have a room that is not really the junk room but ends up becoming one? Well we did, we spent some long needed hours to get it fixed up today.  Our so called junk room was the computer/spare room. We need to create more room and get the bed organised for guests.

My Mum and step dad were able to take the kids for the day and this allowed us to get busy on the house and especially the spare room. Hubby and I moved book cases out of the room to give us more space. We have chucked, some are off to charity, and we tidied, all in all a very productive and positive day.

So now the room is not a dumping ground for things we have no idea what to do with, and we are left with tidy work desks, a place where you can walk on both sides of the bed (I know this is normal in other places, but we needed the space for storage before, now it is all clear – it is going to be so easy now to make this spare bed), and the part that I am very pleased about is we purchased a light shade for the room. It looks lovely and just works so well in the room.

Hubby wanted to go to the hardware shop, but upon arrival we realised it was closed. We arrived at 3.30pm and it closed at 3pm. He thought it closed at 4pm so he was annoyed about this, until I thought lets go and see if there is a light shade we like at K-Mart. Bingo, K-Mart had the light shade we loved and only for $10, $14 for the bulbs and we were off home.

It was a blessing that Nana and Opa could take the girls today; we never would have gotten all the things done today if the kids were in the house. It was nice to focus and spend time doing it rather than getting interrupted constantly. I do love the kids, but you do get more done sometimes if they are elsewhere. The girls had a big day out with Nana and Opa, they went on a long bush walk (rated as easy but it was not that easy – a lot of stairs so girls were good to walk it all), then off to a park, then on to Nana and Opa’s for lunch and some films. I must say they were very sleepy when we came home.

I will post a picture of the light shade tomorrow when it is better to take a picture. Currently it is 9.40pm at night so hard to do, and while I am writing this post hubby is playing his shooting computer game, so turning on the light will cause angst I guess.

Do you have a room where stuff goes to rest and never sees the light of day again? It is easy to do; you get busy, need to clean up. You move whatever it is to another part so it is out of the way and it gets forgotten about. The problem lies when you have to go through all the mess to have a functional room again. What room was your issue and how did you fix it. Send in your stories.

P.S. Now we are ready for Grandma and Granddad to come and visit. Currently I have not made the bed, as I want the sheets to be fresh for their arrival in a week or so. They are coming before the girl’s birthday and party. It will be nice to see them, and the girls are so excited. Hope they like the new room.

Chocolate Shop Not So Sweet

We all went to the  Blue Mountains Chocolate shop (this place has a giant Easter egg, not sure how they made it so big, it is huge) to see a demonstration and to have of course chocolate and for the girls to play in their playground. Upon arrival it was nice and they had many chocolates to choose from, some of the things there were just very interesting. You can purchase a Chinese lucky cat chocolate, mice/rat chocolate and of course kangaroos, koalas and so on.

Before the presentation we decided to get something to eat and drink, the girls had baby chinos and a chocolate kangaroo, daddy had a cake and ice chocolate and mummy had a small hot chocolate. The kids were whinging and nearly in tears over the baby chino (who knew this would have such a reaction) and did not want to have other items either.

It was like going to this chocolate café was the worst thing we could do as parents and how dare we! (Well that will teach us to treat the kids) Will they speak of this to future therapists, “My parents took me to a chocolate shop, and I did not like the drinks and had a terrible time?” In actual fact, the girls ate the poor chocolate kangaroo in record time, Julia was wearing a lot of the kangaroo on her hands face and Lillian just chomped on until there was nothing left of the cute adorable yummy looking chocolate marsupial.

After this we headed over to where the presentation was happening, the presentation consisted of a lady emptying moulds of chocolate creations and looking to see if they were fit to be sold in the shop. All chocolate creations that were removed from these moulds were put back into the hold melting chocolate to start again, even the shiny ones that looked good were put back to start life again.

Many dolphins ended up joining the melted chocolate and this made us all laugh. The dolphins were in a sea of chocolate. This was a hilarious thought for the girls, and they giggled for a long while after it was not that funny. I am not sure what we expected for the demonstration about creating or making chocolate for the shop, however removing and putting the creations into be melted again was not it. Maybe a talk of what they are doing, and a bit of background might have been nicer.

I do understand that some of the pieces that they created might not have met with their quality checks, and that is perfectly acceptable, however when you are running a business smack bang in tourist central you give your customers a little more than what we got today.

The girls forgot about the drinks and were high on the sugar rush from the kangaroos, and off we went to play in their outside area. It was a lovely sunny day and we made the most of it. Have you gone somewhere new and was disappointed by what happened compared to what was advertised.  All in all, it was a nice day out and we all went somewhere different. Send in your stories about places or things you have done that did not live up to the expectation.

Sick and Busy

Why is it when you have a lot to do, and you are going off somewhere special soon you start to feel ill. All very annoying indeed. I am already taking vitamins, but will add more vitamin C to the mix. Sore throat and feeling exhuasted started early evening, and brushed it off. However have woken to have the same symptoms and want to go back to bed. Not good.

Hubby has organised me to join him in Melbourne next Friday, so looking forward to that. I just love getting on a plane, it is so exciting. The other exciting part about all this is that I will not have kids with me. I know, I will be kid free.

I also need to make sure the house is ship shape, fold and sort more clothes to put away (I seem to do washing all the time, when will it end?), organise my Nana’s birthday pressie (the girls GG, it stands for Great Grandmother) and maybe fit in some study for uni. Week 6 is approaching and that is quiz week, so need to understand all terms and phrases (easier said than done).

So as you can see like anyone I am busy and don’t need to feel ill, so be gone sore throat, be gone evil infection if I have one?  Is it viral or bacterial? I don’t know, if no improvement I will go to the doctors for a look see. I want to feel well while I have my kid free time. Don’t want to be limping around Melbourne and hanging for bed, that would be no fun would it?

Does this happen to you? Is there a medical reason for falling ill when you have a hundred things to do. I know I don’t have a hundred things but it does feel like it sometimes. Send in your magic cures that fix you up. I am off for a nap to help the healing process, looking forward to reading your comments.

Old Is New Again

Old names are back in Fashion
Old names are back in Fashion

Lately I have noticed that old fashioned names for children are all the rage. With my girls, Julia and Lillian we looked to family names for inspiration and some were a definite no no, and others were just ideal, and so we settled for the ones we named the twins. Other than making sure that it was something the hubby and I both liked, we made sure that those names were no popular. We did not want our kids to be in a class with 5 other Julia and Lillian’s. I have come across a Lily but not a Lillian and not one Julia so far.

In Essential Baby today there was an article about the top baby names for England and Wales in 2011, Lily was in there, however not the way we spell it. We have it with two L’s, and the actual name is Lillian, not Lilly. We do call her Lilly for short as well.

This is not a new situation, the names of the girls classmates at pre-school are mostly all old fashioned and it is rather interesting that this trend is seen nearly everywhere, although if I was a celebrity I might have felt the pressure to come up with a more interesting and unique name.

Our position as parents is that we wanted the girls names to be easily understood, spelt, the child will not get teased for their name (no promises on this, but we spent a while thinking of all things we could call them and nothing came to mind – we will let you know if this is correct once school has started),  no issue of pronunciation, and of course the initials don’t form a bad word.

Another major point for me about giving our children names was that it would be a name for when you are young and also for adulthood. I don’t want one of the girls want to be taken seriously in her profession of choice and being made fun of due to her name or worse. It can happen. Who knows, the girls might want to end up being called by their middle names, and hate our choices for them. Personally I love the old names as they are classic, stylish, and are great for young and old. Some as I have stated I think are just ones that we should not bring back, Mabel, Edna, Bertha, and Gertrude, just to name a few.

I know that some new names sound amazing and stunning and I wish I was that brave.  One thing with the new names is the way some are spelt, I do understand that this makes them unique however changing a c to a k, can complicate a child’s life and make it hard to ever spell the kids name. It will always be a pain for the boy/girl. I am sure people get used to it, and then they know but for me it should be done the way it sounds as then there are less issues.

Do you prefer traditional names and spelling? Have you tried something different and has it worked? I do love some names that are more modern, like Emerson, Billie (not that modern as there was Billie Holiday), and I do like the name Sydney as I think it would be nice for kids when young and when they get older. Some of my choices are not very modern, maybe I just like the old fashioned way. Send in your comments.

Spring Arrives Early

For a while now, some of my plants have bloomed and others have not. Our house seems to be the last normally to have anything flower, so now it is all happening earlier. August is not usually when things flower here, especially the blossom  and camellias trees. Although we have had some plants bloom, it has been very cold and the nice sunny days have not lasted. I hope that the days are going to get warmer soon, and the sky will stay blue and not overcast. Bring on the heat I say. Has your plants been flowering? Is it warmer there now, or is it still cold? As I write this, the day is nice and sunny and like a spring day aside from the cold wind.

Traffic Chaos

We left the house at 8.57am, normally driving by 9am. So all good, happy that we are all on time, and that kids are not being naughty. I was pleased and happy until the car was at a standstill and I realised that there had been an accident. We were not going anywhere. How annoying! I was just off to drop kids at school and go home and maybe some chores but did not factor in waiting in traffic for hours. A truck had overturned and blocked traffic, we passed the truck and it was a sight to see, you don’t often see trucks lying down.

I finally got to the pre-school at about 9.45am so that is nearly 45mins to drive 10mins down the road. As the road was in chaos I decided to go to the post office around the corner from the school as I thought I would never make it to my local one. I was right. I went in and did what I had to do at the post office and it only took me 5mins. Raced back to the car to see if I could start the process of getting home. I ended up waiting in traffic for over an hour to just get to the next suburb and that was better than what faced others in the opposite direction. As I drove towards Katoomba Township I noticed that all the cars going the other way were bumper to bumper, and it extended well past Blackheath, Medlow Bath, and well into the start of Katoomba according to the sign on the highway.

After I managed to get out of the traffic I popped in to deliver an invite to the girls party, and found out via a friend that the truck that had the accident at midnight last night. Also from another friend I found out that it was there at 1am, so why was it still causing an issue at 9am the same day? Why is this not cleared away when it happened? If the accident got cleared up in the early hours of the morning it would not have held up traffic and caused so much interruption. I do hope that the driver of the truck is o.k, and all is well there, but I just don’t understand why it was left to affect the lives of everyone the next day.

Not sure when the traffic was cleared as the pickup from school was weird as it was easy to get there and the accident was all cleared. I was very grateful that the traffic had eased and you could get back and forth easily. We only have one road in and one road out, so blocking a road or having hold ups is just not manageable, especially when I need to drop kids and pick them up from school.

Do know why the police or emergency services would have left the truck and waited until peak hour to fix the issue? I do not understand why it was not taken off the road when it happened, I do not know how the driver is and as stated, I hope that he/she is fine and well. Maybe emergency services had to wait to have vehicles assist to move the truck?  If you have worked in emergency services and know why this clean up would have been delayed, let us know.

I also think it would be nice to have an alternate route in case of emergency situations like this; maybe we can work on a road that we can use if this happens again. Do any locals in the area know of a road I could have taken? Is there a back way that I don’t know of? I for one don’t and would just stick to the highway. Send in your comments.

Daddy the Dinosaur Slayer

Not as scary as it is an Origami Dinosaur. Image by FreeDigitalPhotos.net.
Not as scary as it is an Origami Dinosaur. Image by FreeDigitalPhotos.net.

The girls have been telling me that daddy kills dinosaurs, not sure when he finds time or where the dinosaurs are, but they are convinced he goes off and slays them.  It is good to know that daddy is keeping us safe from the evil, threatening dinosaurs.

On top of ridding the world of more dinosaurs the girls have told us that there are naughty bears that need to be gotten rid of also. Who knew? I didn’t and glad to think that again daddy is making the world a safer place.

I was concerned that if daddy was killing bears as well, that he might hurt or harm their beloved teddy bears. This concern was met with, “No mummy our teddy bears are nice and the others are naughty and need to be killed”.

It makes me wonder, do the girls tell others about daddy’s extracurricular activities?

Does the other person nod politely and get told about how daddy fights the bears or the evil dinosaur?

Is this what the teachers get faced with? I hope they keep a straight face, as sometimes it is hard when faced with such funny creative stories.

Elusive Alone Time

Alone Time, Image by FreeDigitalPhotos.net
Alone Time, Image by FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Why is it when you want to be left alone no one does? Yes it is very annoying, and frustrating. I have a lot to do, namely reading for university and would like to do some stuff for the blog and who knows, maybe something else.

We decided to go out to lunch and then a drive, it was a day of constant, “Mummy, can you do this, Mummy, can you do that” Oh……a nice nap or quiet time under a tree would have done me today.

When I do finally get time alone, my head, shoulders, and neck hurt and as you might have guessed that then leads to a headache. This also means that I am exhausted and just in no mood to do anything, very annoying and frustrating actually.

Do find that you have periods like this, that nothing gets done and you are feeling very frustrated within yourself? I am feeling like that at the moment, I know things will sort themselves out and all will be fine. Currently I am just hanging for kids to go to bed, that time cannot come soon enough.

Today has been good and bad, I have had sooky kids which at times was nice and bad, the nice part was the cuddling the bad part was not being able to put a child down to go and do something like get a glass of water or maybe have a lie down.

I have organised a bath for the kids and they have more ice boats so hopefully after this they will be very sleepy and ready for a nice big sleep.  Off get the ice boats, pj’s sorted, and towels, hubby is watching kids in the bath. Finally some time with just me!! YES a small win for today!

Have you had a good day today? Were you able to have some alone time?  I am now sitting with a glass of red wine while I type this and feeling a little better about the day, as it is now night time and kids will soon be snoring and in bed (well I can only hope).

Do you have tips or tricks to make you get more alone time? Have you a timetable with your partner/husband to make sure that each one gets alone time? Send in your comments.

Sick Times Four

It has been a sick time in our household. The hubby came home last Thursday ill, and then Lillian started throwing up on Friday night and all Saturday. I was thankful that Julia and I were spared, however that was not to last.

Early Wednesday morning I woke feeling rather ill and not right, at first I thought it was that I was very hungry, No I had to throw up. “Oh great, it is now my turn!” what to do, I have to get the kids to school and pick them up. Thank god my mum is in town for a while. Got hubby to ring her and she was able to come and look after kids to allow me to rest in bed, what luxury, actually felt like a true sick day, very rare for a mummy to get one. I was also disappointed to be sick as I was looking forward to lunch with relatives and it would have been a nice day out, you cannot plan getting sick and after everyone else being ill I suppose it was my turn.

Then Wednesday evening occurred, it was Julia’s turn. She threw up over me and we both ended up having an evening shower to make us both feel better. I was doing a bit better but not 100% so having a sick little kid was not helpful. Oh well, probably her turn as well.  Julia seems much better now, has kept food down and much better in herself.

I still don’t have much of an appetite, but have kept my food down and still have some body aches and pains, but grateful that the worst of it is over. How have you fared with sickness this winter? Have you been lucky to remain unscathed?

It is good to know that the changing of bed linen every couple of hours will stop and the cleaning will come to an end, well some of it. I still want to do a spray and scrub of some areas to make sure we are all not touching and communing with the same germs.

I thought we were doing so well, until it struck us on mass. I thought at one point to put a mark on the letterbox warning others to not come near the house – a safety message to all. Being ill meant that I could not make it to the computer and that meant days without an update, so sorry readers about that. Do you have tips to help keep your family healthy during the winter? Send them in.
